Paul Van Ross

Paul Van Ross is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and currently lives in Melbourne, Australia. A talented woodwind specialist, he has been performing and teaching for over 20 years on saxophone, flute and clarinet.
Apart from extensive touring and performing around the world he has also studied in New York with some of the world's leading teachers and musicians including George Garzone, George Coleman, Barry Harris, Dave Valentin, Andrew Sterman, Rob Schepps, Lawrence Feldman, Keith Underwood and Helen Campo.
He has also studied in Australia with Fred Hosking, Tony Hicks, Mark Franklin, Ann Cecil, Ian Chaplin and Jamie Oehlers.
Recent studies in Cuba with Cuban flute masters will undoubtedly influence some future compositions.
Paul has extensive experience as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles. He has performed with saxophone quartets, clarinet quartets, flute ensembles, big bands, jazz bands, Irish bands, African bands, funk bands and professional musical theatre orchestras. His versatility has enabled him to play a broad range of musical genres.
He has co-led five successful tours to New Zealand and recently performed at the 2008 Queenstown International Jazz Festival & 2009 Nelson International Jazz Festival.
Paul is now focused on composing music for the Music Allsorts series to help the music education and inspiration of young musicians.
